I'm a children's author.

My debut, ALEX, THE DOG & THE UNOPENABLE DOOR, was published by Faber & Faber in 2013. It was nominated for the Costa Children's Book of the Year and the Branford Boase Award, and was really good.

My second book, THE TORNADO CHASERS, was published by Faber & Faber in July 2014. It was also really good, and worth buying at least six copies to hand out to family members and strangers.

My third book PERIJEE & ME was published by Faber & Faber in the UK in March 2016 and by Wendy Lamb Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in September 2016. Immediately afterwards people flocked to the streets and lit bonfires in an attempt to burn every other book ever written because, as one onlooker put it, "There is simply no point in literature anymore - Ross Montgomery has absolutely smashed it. Could you pass me that can of petrol and a copy of "War and Peace" please?"

I also published my first ever picture book with Faber & Faber in September 2016: THE BUILDING BOY, illustrated by David Litchfield (whose illustrations make up the background to this site). There were reports that someone exploded in a bookshop in Bristol on the same day it was released - it could have been unrelated, but you never know.

I'm available for public readings, workshops, school visits, book groups: anything from small discussions to whole school assemblies and festivals! I work as a primary school teacher and am fully experienced teaching classes of children from age 3 to age 12.

I've also written literary articles and reviews for publications such as The Guardian, The Big Issue, World Book Day UK and Bookbuzz.

If you have any questions or requests, feel free to email me via the contact section of this site. You can also follow me on Twitter @mossmontmomery if you want to see pictures of my cat or explore my opinions on the weather.

I'm represented by Claire Wilson of Rogers, Coleridge and White Ltd.
